OPPO has officially announced the A7 Pro Max, the first phone from the company built around a 10,000mAh-class battery. The teaser went up in China on 27 July with reservations already open, and the numbers OPPO chose to print in the poster’s own fine print are more interesting than the headline capacity: the cell is rated to hold more than 80% of its capacity after 1,500 full charge cycles.

What OPPO has actually confirmed about the A7 Pro Max
The teaser is deliberately thin, but the footnote does real work. OPPO states the A7 Pro Max uses a single-cell design — not two cells wired together, which is how several recent large-battery phones get to headline numbers — and gives two capacity figures: 10,000mAh typical, 9,700mAh rated.
That gap is worth understanding before you buy anything advertised this way. “Typical” is the average capacity across a production batch under ideal test conditions and is the number that goes on the poster. “Rated” is the minimum the manufacturer guarantees. The A7 Pro Max is a 9,700mAh phone that is allowed to be called a 10,000mAh phone, and OPPO deserves some credit here for printing both rather than only the flattering one.
The durability claim is the other confirmed number. OPPO says that at 25±2°C, after 1,500 full charge-and-discharge cycles, capacity retention is still above 80%. The company is careful to add that 80% is a lifetime measurement threshold and not a warranty commitment, and that normal capacity fade is not covered under warranty. Read that as marketing with a legal seatbelt on — but 1,500 cycles is still a genuinely high figure by current standards. For scale, the EU’s ecodesign rules for smartphones (Regulation 2023/1670, in force since 20 June 2025) require a battery to retain at least 80% of capacity after 800 cycles to be sold in Europe. OPPO is claiming roughly double that endurance, under its own stated test conditions. On a phone that charges roughly every two days because of the battery size, 1,500 cycles is a long time.
OPPO is positioning the phone as what it calls a new-generation durability flagship, and has not announced a launch date or pricing.
Specifications: what’s confirmed and what’s still leaked
Only the battery and the design shown in the render are official. Everything below that is sourced to leaks — chiefly tipster Digital Chat Station — and should be treated as unconfirmed until OPPO says otherwise:

If the 8.47mm figure holds, it is the headline engineering achievement rather than the capacity itself — plenty of phones could fit 10,000mAh if thickness were no object. The 2MP second rear camera, on the other hand, is the usual budget-segment padding and does nothing you would miss if it were absent.
What this means outside China
Nothing yet, and that is the honest answer. This is a China announcement with reservations open on Chinese channels only, and OPPO’s A-series does not map cleanly across markets — the same nameplate can arrive elsewhere months later with a different chipset and a smaller battery. There is also no word from OPPO on how many Android version upgrades or years of security patches the A7 Pro Max will get, which on a phone whose entire pitch is longevity is the number most conspicuously missing. A battery engineered to last four years is worth very little on a phone that stops getting security patches in two.
