Fitbit Charge 7 Spotted in FCC Filing, May Run Wear OS

A new Fitbit tracker appears to be in the works, based on an FCC filing spotted under model number G8BL6. The filing points to a Fitbit Charge successor that could run Wear OS, a shift that would set it apart from every Fitbit Charge model that came before it.

What the filing shows

The device is listed under grantee code SVG, the same code used for the Fitbit Air, and was built by Goertek, a manufacturing partner Google has used before. The listing describes a device with a screen, Bluetooth LE, GNSS, and wrist straps, but no Wi-Fi, a spec profile that closely matches the existing Fitbit Charge 6.

The regulatory detail that stands out is how you’d access the device’s e-label: the same path used on the Pixel Watch, through Settings > System > Regulatory Information. That’s not proof on its own, but it’s a reasonable signal the device runs Wear OS rather than Fitbit’s own lighter operating system, which would make this the first Fitbit Charge with smartwatch-grade software underneath a fitness-tracker form factor.

Timing clues

Confidential elements of the filing, including photos, schematics, and operational descriptions, are set to stay sealed until March 9, 2027, which suggests a public reveal sometime before that date. The filing also landed just two days after Google Australia’s YouTube ads for its Pixel lineup showed an unidentified, pill-shaped wearable that Google never explained. Whether that’s the same device this filing describes is unconfirmed, but the timing lines up closely enough to be worth flagging.

The current Fitbit Charge 6 launched three years ago, and Fitbit has generally worked on a roughly two-year cycle for the Charge line, so a successor is already running later than that pattern would suggest.

What’s still unconfirmed

Nothing here comes from Google or Fitbit directly. FCC filings confirm a device exists and give real technical detail, but they don’t confirm a name, price, release date, or full feature set. Treat “Fitbit Charge 7” as the working assumption based on the model pattern and grantee code, not a confirmed product name until Google says otherwise.
