Samsung Galaxy M33 5G- 6 reasons to NOT buy the phone

Looks at the top reasons to stay away from the latest Samsung Mid range smartphone

Samsung has just launched a new mid-range smartphone i.e. Samsung Galaxy M33 5G for the Indian smartphone market. The phone is being marketed by the company as a smartphone, powered “Segment Best 5nm Processor” apart from other marketing jargon.  We will talk about “Segment Best 5nm Processor” later in the post (bear with me :) for time being). If you want to look at the specifications of the phone, you can find them at the end of this post.

6 Reasons to NOT buy the smartphone

Here we look at the top reasons in our opinion which should make you avoid buying the Samsung Galaxy M33 5G. Most publications will tell you the top reasons for buying the phone, but at AndroidPure we are going to do the opposite.

1. NO CHARGER

Irrespective of how Samsung or any other brand spins it out, the absence of a charger in a new retail box for a budget / mid-range smartphone shouts out loud to me, to not buy the phone irrespective of what it offers otherwise. Unless it’s a flagship device targeted at consumers that can pay a premium, NO CHARGER for a mid-range phone means AndroidPure is going to recommend it as DON’T BUY.

With no charger, the massive 6,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging is of no use to most users who will end up buying a normal charger (no fast charging support) or using an old one.

2. “Segment Best 5nm Processor” ?? :)

Samsung markets the processor powering the phone as “Segment Best 5nm Processor”. The processor is so good that even Samsung is hiding the exact details (Model Number of SOC) from its official specs page of the device (Did you get the Sarcasm ?). The processor is Exynos 1280 Octa-Core processor with Mali-G68 GPU which is similar to Snapdragon 695 but is considered weak compared to Snapdragon and Mediatek Dimensity alternatives. If you are looking for a detailed comparison, please check here.

It also comes with 16GB of Virtual RAM, which we honestly believe is more of a marketing gimmick than an actual factor.

3. Display and Design

Samsung Galaxy M33 5G comes with the cheaper TFT LCD display and not an AMOLED one. Fortunately, there is Gorilla Glass 5 protection but comes with an outdated design with a water-drop notch & thick bezels. There is no Always-on Display or In-display Fingerprint Scanner. We are talking about these features as you can find them in other brands in a similar price range.

4. CAMERA

Samsung Galaxy M33 5Gcomes with Quad cameras at the rear, yet two of the camera sensors are more gimmicky or marketing i.e the 2MP Macro lens and 2MP Portrait Sensor. You can totally disregard the two sensors as the performance is going to be dismal.

5. Virtual Proximity Sensing

Samsung Galaxy M33 5G with Virtual Proximity Sensing instead of an actual physical proximity sensor. Irrespective of what a brand tells you, using a virtual proximity sensor instead of a physical one is bound to offer an inferior user experience and you may face issues sooner or later when taking calls.

6. Overpriced

In our opinion, Samsung Galaxy M33 5G is overpriced (starting at Rs. 17,999) and you can get much better options for the same price.
