Xiaomi has announced the MIUI 13 update rollout for India. The news comes just a week after the global roadmap was revealed by the Chinese OEM.

New features in MIUI 13

Xiaomi says that the storage on most devices become fragmented quickly and the read and write speeds drop by 50% in about 36 months. The new Optimized File Storage System in MIUI 13 retains 95% read and write speeds to prolong the device’s lifespan.

The new software update has better RAM Optimization, which analyzes how apps use the memory, and categorizes an app’s RAM usage process into important and unimportant tasks. It closes the unimportant ones, while keeping the important apps in the background for quick access.

Similarly, the Processor Priority Optimization (PPO) is another dynamic performance related feature in the firmware, that allocates system resources based on the usage.

Xiaomi says that MIUI 13 will offer up to 10% better battery life, thanks to Smart Balance. This feature balances the performance and power consumption of the device, to keep the phone running for a longer duration.

MIUI 13 brings a Sidebar, that can be accessed with a swipe. The panel contains shortcuts for your favorite apps, and lets you open them in floating windows. It can store up to 10 apps and is customizable. Aside from new static wallpapers, the update also adds new Live Wallpapers, which Xiaomi calls Super Wallpapers, to the Theme Store.

Wondering if your Redmi or Mi phone will get the new software? Wonder no more, here is the list of eligible devices that will get the new software.
