There are 2 things that Nokia does right in terms of software, stock Android and providing OS updates. The Nokia Android 11 Update roadmap has been officially announced.
The list isn’t extensive, but manages to include many budget friendly phones. Here is the list of devices which will get the update.
Nokia Android 11 Update roadmap
The first phase of the update rollout begins in Q4 2020 (October to December) and will run until Q1 2021 (January – March). It will bring the Android 11 update for the following phones:
Q4 2020 – Q1 2021
- Nokia 8.3 5G
- Nokia 2.2
- Nokia 5.3
- Nokia 8.1
The next set of devices will start receiving the update from Q1 2021:
Q1 2021
- Nokia 1.3
- Nokia 4.2
- Nokia 2.3
- Nokia 2.4
- Nokia 3.4
The HMD Global owned company will release Android 11 for three devices between the 1st and 2nd quarters of next year.
Q1 – Q2 2021
- Nokia 3.2
- Nokia 7.2
- Nokia 6.2
The last set of devices in the Nokia Android 11 Update roadmap are the Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 9 Pureview, and will be updated to Google’s latest operating system in Q2, 2021.
The only device in the list that’s from 2018 is the Nokia 8.1, and that was released in December 2018 with Android Pie out of the box. It was updated to Android 10, and it is likely that the Android 11 Update will be the last OS upgrade for the device. The rest of the phones in the roadmap were launched in 2019 and 2020.
