Motorola Edge and Edge+ with curved display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and 765 announced

Motorola is stepping into the flagship market again, this time with the all new Moto Edge series. Say hello to the Motorola Edge and Motorola Edge+.

Let’s begin with the latter.

Motorola Edge+

Motorola Edge+ Display

The Moto Edge+ sports a 6.7-inches Full HD+ AMOLED screen with an Endless Edge design, i.e., it has curved edges almost to a 90-degree angle. The display has a 90Hz refresh rate, 19.5:9 screen ratio, 93% screen to body ratio, supports HDR10+ and has an In-Display fingerprint scanner. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and has a punch-hole cut out in the top left corner for the selfie camera.

Motorola Edge+

The Motorola Edge+ supports Edge Touch for accessing apps quickly as part of “My UX”. The phone runs on Android 10 and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with 12GB of DDR5 RAM, and 256GB of storage. The phone packs a 5000 mAh battery that charges over a USB Type-C 3.1 port. It supports 18W TurboPower fast charging, 15W Wireless charging, and 5W Wireless power sharing.

Motorola Edge+ Cameras

In terms of optics, the Motorola Edge+ boasts a 108MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, 0.8µm pixel size, 1/1.33″ sensor size, Optical image stabilization, a 16MP ultra-wide angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size, FOV 117° ultra-wide angle, and an 8MP  Telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size, 3x high-res optical zoom, Optical image stabilization, Time of flight sensor. The phone supports 5G mobile networks, and Wi-Fi 6. Surprisingly, the Motorola Edge+ has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Motorola Edge+ Design

Motorola Edge

The Motorola Edge has the same display and selfie camera as the Plus. But the Edge is a mid-range variant powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor with 6GB RAM, and 128GB of storage. The device is backed by a 4500 mAh battery that charges over a USB Type-C 2.0 port and supports 18W TurboPower fast charging.

Moto Edge Solar Black

The main cameras on the Motorola Edge comprises a 64MP primary lens with an f/1.8 aperture, 0.8µm pixel size, electronic image stabilization, a 16MP ultra-wide angle lens with an  f/2.2 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size, FOV 117° ultra-wide angle, and an 8MP Telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture, 1.12µm pixel size, 2x high-res optical zoom, Time of flight sensor. The Moto Edge has been IP52 certified for water resistance.

Motorola Edge price

The Motorola Edge has been priced at €699, and will be available in Italy in May. It will be available in Europe in the following weeks. The device will arrive in Latin America and Asia Pacific in the coming months, and later this year in the U.S.

The Motorola Edge will be launched in India soon.
