If you are an Android phone user with low budget, here is some very good news for you. Motorola has unveiled the first most affordable premium Android phone Moto G. Most of the users worldwide still cannot afford a 600$ smartphone and the average price that most people around the world can afford a smartphone is ~ $200. But as most of us know that for that price, we get just an average Android phone which bring bad user experience.
It seems Google is finally breaking this price barrier with Motorola Moto G, which can be called a premium phone at an affordable price for sure.
Hardware
Moto G comes with 4.5-inch display, with 720p, 329 PPI resolution (which in fact is even more than iPhone 5S). It is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with 1GB RAM, and built-in rechargeable lithium-ion 2070 mAh battery. This strong enough battery provides around 14 hours of talk time on 3G networks which is 4 hours more than that claimed for the iPhone 5s.
In terms of operating system, it runs Android 4.3 jelly bean with guaranteed upgrade coming to Android 4.4, by January of 2014.
There’s no LTE support on the device, but perhaps majority of the people worldwide still don’t have access to even a good 3G connection. It also comes with support for FM radio stations.

Camera
In terms of camera, it comes with 5 MP at 4:3 and 3.8 MP at 16:9 (user-configurable) main camera with LED flash along with features like Slow motion video ,Burst mode, Auto HDR, Panorama and Tap to Focus. The secondary front camera is 1.3 MP for video calls etc.
Price and Availability
The device comes with 50GB of Google Drive storage free in addition to the existing 15 GB storage of Gmail. Moto G comes in two models i.e 8 GB and 16 GB models. In terms of pricing, they are priced at:
- 8 GB : $179.
- 16 GB: $199.
The device is already on sale today in Brazil and parts of Europe, and will launch in the coming weeks in the rest of Europe, Canada and more.
For countries like U.S. and many other countries it’ll launch early January next year. In US, Moto G will be sold on Motorola.com, with no contract, no SIM lock and an unlockable bootloader & will also be available through various carriers and retailers.
What it mean’s for Consumers and other Manufacturers
Considering the price and the premium specifications, Moto G is going to ring alarm bells to manufacturers like Samsung which dominate the entry level Android smartphone market with large market share. Moto G at this price is going to hit Nokia Lumia brand too which has successfully sold Lumia 520 at an affordable price and still going strong in that price range.
For consumers, this may lead to access to premium android smartphones at much lower prices sooner or later with more choices for them to choose from.
