vivo launched the S2 in India today, reviving its S series in the country for the first time since the vivo S1 debuted in August 2019 — a seven-year gap. The phone slots into the premium mid-range segment at Rs 39,999 for the 8GB/128GB variant and Rs 49,999 for the 8GB/256GB model, with sales beginning August 11 on vivo’s India website, Amazon.in, Flipkart, and partner retail stores.

“The smartphone market has evolved significantly, with young consumers increasingly seeking premium experiences without stepping into flagship price segments,” said Geetaj Channana, Chief Corporate Communications Officer at vivo India.
vivo S2 Specifications
The S2 runs a Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It ships with Android 16-based OriginOS 6 and comes with a promise of three years of OS upgrades and five years of security patches — competitive but not class-leading for a phone at this price.
The display is a 6.83-inch 3D curved AMOLED panel running at 120Hz with a 2800×1260 resolution and a claimed 3,000-nit peak brightness, plus HDR10+ support. An in-display fingerprint scanner handles biometrics.
For cameras, vivo pairs a 50MP Sony IMX582 primary sensor with a 2MP bokeh lens and a circular “Aura Light” ring flash on the rear. The front gets a 32MP selfie camera capable of 4K video. The 7,050mAh battery charges at 44W with bypass charging support.

Pricing and Availability
The vivo S2 is available in two variants:
- 8GB + 128GB: Rs 39,999
- 8GB + 256GB: Rs 49,999
Sales start August 11, 2026, through vivo India’s website, Amazon.in, Flipkart, and partner retail stores. The Silk White variant is marginally thicker (8.10mm vs 7.99mm) and heavier (199g vs 197g) than the Sapphire Blue and Regal Bronze options — worth noting if you care about pocket feel.
At Rs 39,999, the S2 competes directly with the recently announced Realme 16x 5G and upcoming Redmi Note 17 5G, though it positions itself higher with the curved AMOLED display, IP69 rating, and MIL-STD-810H certification. The trade-off is a weaker update commitment — three OS years trails Samsung and Xiaomi’s four-year promises at similar prices.
