Samsung Notes has started disclosing when text in the app was written by Galaxy AI, rather than typed by you. The change arrived in version 4.4.48.15, and its changelog entry only says an “AI watermark” was added, with no further detail on how it actually works.
Where the Label Shows Up
Samsung Notes already uses Galaxy AI for things like auto-formatting a note, summarizing it, checking spelling and grammar, and translating text. Each of those tools shows you a preview of the result before you accept it.
Since this update, that preview now includes the line “This text was generated using AI” underneath the result. SamMobile spotted it while testing the spelling and grammar tool and the auto-formatting tool, and confirmed the message wasn’t there before the update.
It’s a text-only label, not a visible mark stamped over the words themselves. That’s a different approach from Galaxy AI’s image tools, like Creative Studio and the wallpaper generator, which already stamp a visible watermark onto anything they generate.
Why a Small Label Like This Matters
AI-written text that looks identical to something you typed yourself is easy to pass off as your own work, intentionally or not. A label like this at least tells you, in the moment, that a tool did the writing rather than you.
The disclosure has limits, though. It lives only in Samsung Notes’ own preview screen. Once the text is saved or copied elsewhere, nothing travels with it to show it was AI-generated.
No separate Samsung announcement has surfaced as of September 21. There’s no word yet on whether the label will extend to other Galaxy AI text tools across Samsung’s apps.
