Pixel Watch 5 September Update: Full Changelog, and a Pixel 11 Catch

Google has published the changelog for the September 2026 Pixel Watch update, build CP3A.260905.002, covering both the 41mm and 45mm Pixel Watch 5. The list is long, but two details in it matter more than the feature names. It is a September build carrying the August 2026 security patch, and the headline Gemini feature only works if your watch is paired to a Pixel 11.

The Pixel 11 catch on proactive suggestions

Gemini Intelligence Proactive Suggestions is the feature Google leads with. It collapses multi-step tasks into a single tap inside messages, so a question about dinner plans pulls the answer straight from your calendar onto the watch face. It is a good idea and it is the reason to want this build.

Per droid-life, it currently only works when the watch is connected to a Pixel 11. That restriction does not appear in every write-up of the changelog. If you bought a Pixel Watch 5 to pair with a Pixel 10 or an older Pixel, the marquee item on this list is not yours yet. Google has framed the Watch 5 as an AI wearable, and the most AI-forward thing on it currently requires buying this year’s phone too.

A September build with an August patch

The security level is the other thing worth checking. This is dated as a September 2026 build but ships the August 2026 patch, which means the watch sits a month behind on fixes even after installing what is being described as a big update. That is normal for Wear OS and it is still worth knowing, because the version number on the box implies more currency than the patch level delivers.

What is actually in the update

  • Gemini Personalization: Gemini learns from past conversations and connected Google apps, including Gmail, Calendar, Search, YouTube and Photos, so it can answer things like what is on your calendar today
  • Proactive suggestions: one-tap multi-step actions in messages, currently gated to a paired Pixel 11
  • Offline Gemini: on-device handling for core actions such as timers, starting and stopping workouts and toggling Do Not Disturb
  • Raise to talk: updates to the gesture model
  • GPS route tracking: improvements to the route maps shown in Google Health after runs, rides, hikes and walks
  • Hand gestures: double pinch now opens At a Glance and the notification centre from the watch face, and scrolls Gemini responses, Wallet cards, workout metrics, Google Maps views and the Recorder app
  • Navigation: the wrist turn gesture becomes universal back navigation
  • General bug fixes and improvements

On Offline Gemini, Google’s changelog text reads:

Powered by on-device AI, Gemini can process core actions instantly with low latency, even when you’re completely offline.

Should you expect this on an older Pixel Watch?

Not yet. droid-life reports that this September update is currently rolling out only to the Pixel Watch 5, with no word on the other Pixel Watch models. It also notes the build has been shipping since the watch launched a couple of weeks ago, so many owners already have it installed. What arrived this week is the paperwork, not the software.

To check manually, open Settings on the watch, then System, then System updates. androidpure also covered the surprise September Pixel 11 update that landed alongside it.
