Google is letting Gemini place phone calls for Pixel 11 owners in the United States. The feature is called Call for Me. It dials from your own number, says your name, and records the line.
This is an early preview, not a switch for every Android phone. Google’s help page sets a short list of requirements before Gemini will dial at all.
Who can use Call for Me on Pixel 11
- Who: you must be 18 or older, and in the US.
- Phone: a Pixel 11 with a US SIM card. 9to5Google reports the preview also covers the 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold.
- Account: a paid Google AI subscription, plus the latest Gemini app. A Pixel 11 Pro Google AI Pro bundle is a separate offer, and it does not replace that requirement.
- Phone app: the Public Beta of Phone by Google.
- Language: the phone must be set to English.
What Gemini does on the call
Open the Gemini app and ask it to call, or type @Call for me. Be specific about the place, the time, and what you want done.
Before it dials, you review a summary. That summary shows the number, plus what Gemini will share, including your name and contact info. Nothing starts until you tap Call for me.
The call uses your mobile network and your own number. Standard carrier rates still apply. For now, Gemini can only call US numbers.
It opens by saying it is an AI assistant from Google. It says the line is recorded, that it is calling for you, and it states your name. Your microphone stays muted. A live transcript runs in the Gemini app.
Tap Take over and your mic unmutes. Gemini announces that you are taking over, then leaves the call. When it ends, you get a notification. The transcript and a recording sit in the Phone app’s call history.
What Call for Me will not do
- Emergencies: it cannot call 911 or other emergency services.
- Payments: it cannot pay, or read out a card number.
- Sensitive details: no Social Security numbers, passwords, or health information.
- Sales: you cannot use it to sell a product or a service.
Google also caps how many of these calls you can place in a day. The help page does not say what that number is.
A business that does not want these calls can opt out. The person who answers still hears an assistant using your name and your number.
Call for Me will wait on hold and step through phone menus so you do not have to. It also puts a recorded assistant on the line in your name. Read the summary before you tap. Google says Gemini will refuse tasks that need a payment, a password, or a health detail. You still dial those yourself.
