Lenovo used IFA 2026 to announce two Android tablets, the Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2 and the Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2, and the headline number is a software one. Both ship on Android 17. Lenovo’s own announcement says both “include seven OS upgrades through Android 24, as well as up to seven years of security updates through 2033.” That is an unusually long commitment for an Android tablet, and it is the reason these two are worth a look even if you never touch the pen.
Seven Android upgrades, with a footnote worth reading
Seven OS upgrades on a tablet is a real commitment. Update policies in the Android tablet market have historically trailed what the same brands offer on phones, and buyers rarely get a number this specific at announcement. A tablet is also the kind of device people hold onto for years, so a 2033 security horizon matters here.
Two details temper it. The OS-upgrade figure is stated flat, but the security window is hedged as “up to” seven years, which is not the same promise. And Lenovo footnotes the whole commitment: upgrade availability and timing “may vary by device, market, carrier, and other factors,” and “upgrade schedules are subject to change.” That is standard legal cover, and it is not evidence Lenovo will fall short. It does mean the pledge is worth revisiting in 2028, when Android 20 is due and the tablets are three generations old.
Lenovo’s pitch for the pair is creative work rather than update policy. “Great ideas don’t always happen at a desk, and they don’t always begin with a keyboard,” said Johnson Jia, Senior Vice President, Global Innovation Center, Lenovo Intelligent Devices Group, in the company’s announcement.
Pricing and availability
Lenovo’s announcement gives European pricing only. The Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 “is estimated to start at 849€ including TAX,” and the Yoga Tab Gen 2 “is estimated to start at 649€ including TAX.” Both are listed with expected availability from September 2026. Lenovo labels these as estimates that may vary by country, configuration and channel.
No US pricing appears in Lenovo’s release, and the company’s US store had no Yoga Tab Gen 2 listing at the time of writing. Android Authority reports US pricing of $729 for the base model and $999.99 for the Plus. Treat those figures as reported rather than confirmed until Lenovo posts them itself. For context on where that sits, leaked pricing put the entry Galaxy Tab S12 above $1,000.
Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 specifications
The Plus is the larger, faster tablet, built around a 13-inch panel and last year’s flagship Qualcomm silicon. Lenovo’s release names the chip, the display size and the Harman Kardon audio system, but it does not publish a full spec table for either tablet. The remaining figures in both lists below come from Android Authority’s launch coverage rather than from Lenovo.

Yoga Tab Gen 2 specifications
The standard model is smaller and lighter at 480g, and swaps in a MediaTek chip. Android Authority reports it keeps the same 4K resolution, refresh rate and brightness as the Plus, which would be unusual at the lower price.
