A handful of Apple Watch owners on watchOS 27 report a clock glitch after clocks went back in the UK and Europe on Sunday, October 25. The always-on display and standby mode stayed on summer time, an hour fast. The time looked correct once the watch was raised or tapped awake.

The reports come from a MacRumors forum thread, where about five or six users describe the same behavior. Several are in the UK and central Europe. The central European user who started the thread, fweber, summed it up: “It shows the correct time when activated, but jumps back to DST summer time in standby on AOD.”
It’s a small number of reports, and the scale is unknown. It’s also unclear which watchOS 27 versions or Apple Watch models are affected. As of publication, Apple had not commented publicly.
The fix Apple Watch owners report
Restarting the watch, turning it off and on again, fixed the problem for three users. One UK owner said a restart was needed to stop the wrong time from coming back. Another user said switching to a different watch face worked instead.
Neither is an official fix. Both are worth trying if your watch shows the wrong time on its dimmed display.
Why US owners should keep this in mind
Clocks go back across most of the US this Sunday, November 1. If your Apple Watch looks an hour fast in always-on or standby after that, restart the watch first. Raise or tap it awake to check whether only the dimmed display is wrong.
Clock changes can trip up phones too. A time zone change in Canada could cause similar trouble on Android, as covered in our report on Canada’s time zone change and Android phones. watchOS 27 has already needed one fix this cycle, with watchOS 27.0.1 addressing restarts on the Series 12 and Ultra 4.
