Jio now sells voice-only prepaid packs in India, starting at ₹147 for 22 days. The packs carry no mobile data and sit in a new section of Jio’s plan list labelled TRAI Mandated Packs.
They follow TRAI’s order for voice-and-SMS-only recharges, which left the size of the discount to operators. Jio’s prices now show how much cheaper these plans actually are.

Jio voice-only plan prices
Four short-validity packs are new. Each includes unlimited voice calls and 300 SMS, with no data.
- ₹147: 22 days
- ₹177: 28 days
- ₹196: 30 days
- ₹197: one calendar month
The ₹197 calendar-month pack matches TRAI’s requirement for plans that renew on the same date each month.
Two long-validity voice packs also appear in the same section, but they aren’t new. TelecomTalk listed both in January 2025, and each bundles JioTV and JioAICloud.
- ₹448: 84 days, 1,000 SMS
- ₹1,748: 336 days, 3,600 SMS
How much the voice-only packs actually save
The 28-day pack is the one most prepaid users will compare. At ₹177, it costs ₹12 less than Jio’s own ₹189 Value plan for the same 28 days.
That ₹189 plan adds 2GB of data plus JioTV and JioAICloud. After the 2GB runs out, data continues at 64Kbps. Dropping data therefore saves a little over 6%.
The gap is wider at the entry level. The ₹147 pack costs ₹92 less than Jio’s ₹239 plan, which also runs 22 days but includes 1.5GB of data and 100 SMS per day.
TRAI asked for a reduced tariff but let operators decide by how much. On the 28-day tier, Jio’s answer is ₹12. At the short end, though, ₹147 gives voice-only users a low entry price.
Who these plans suit
The packs make the most sense for feature-phone users, secondary SIMs kept for calls, and people who rely on Wi-Fi at home and work.
None of the new packs include any data. Any mobile data you use is charged separately, so check Jio’s data rates before you switch a SIM you sometimes browse on.
Vi has also launched voice-only prepaid packs, according to Fone Arena and other outlets. We couldn’t confirm Vi’s prices on its own website, so we haven’t listed them here.
