Samsung’s open-ear Galaxy Buds On are coming to the US in early November 2026 for $229. Samsung Electronics America announced US availability on October 28, and the earbuds will come in a single Black finish.

When the Buds On launched in South Korea on October 27 at KRW 299,000, Samsung had not yet shared US pricing or timing. The US release now fills that gap.
Galaxy Buds On US price and availability
Samsung’s US newsroom spells it out: “Galaxy Buds On will be available in Black for $229 in the U.S. beginning early November 2026.” The release gives no exact sale date, so early November is the only firm window for now.
- US price: $229
- Color: Black only
- US availability: early November 2026
- South Korea: KRW 299,000, launched October 27
Europe will have to wait longer. GSMArena reports that Samsung plans to bring the Buds On to Europe in early 2027. That timing does not appear in Samsung’s US release.
Built for awareness, not isolation
The Buds On clip onto the ear with a band instead of sitting inside the ear canal. Samsung says it shaped the fit using more than 119 million ear data points, along with AI-assisted optimizations and physics simulations. Comfort is the pitch, but it stays a Samsung claim until people wear them through a full day.
Samsung’s spec sheet and US release do not list active noise cancellation, which matches what an earlier leak pointed to. Samsung positions the Galaxy Buds4 Pro as its pick for focus and noise cancellation. The Buds On are meant to keep you aware of what’s around you.
To keep music from spilling out, Samsung uses a feature it calls Audio Leakage Reduction. It sends reversed sound waves from the rear of the speaker to limit the sound that escapes. How well that holds up in a quiet office is something only reviews will settle.
Smart features, and which ones need a Galaxy phone
Some of the Buds On’s headline tricks are tied to Samsung phones:
- Quick Panel controls: Galaxy owners skip the Galaxy Wearable app and adjust volume and EQ from a Buds shortcut
- Quick Voice Memo: long-press to record, searchable through Bixby; Samsung’s Korean launch said it needs a Galaxy AI phone with Samsung Voice Recorder and Bixby
- Auto Volume: a Labs feature that needs One UI 8.5 or later
Samsung also lists these features without tying them to a Galaxy phone:
- Head Gestures: nod to accept a call, shake to decline; also dismisses alarms and reads out notifications
- Gemini Live: hands-free with the Hey Google, let’s talk live command; needs a Google Gemini account and works in select apps
Phones from other brands are supported if they run Android 12 or later with more than 1.5GB of memory. Samsung’s own footnote warns that some features may not be available on non-Samsung devices.
That is the tradeoff at $229. You pay premium-earbud money for a pair with no ANC listed, IP54 protection on the buds only, and one color. Several of the smart features also assume a Galaxy phone in your pocket.
