Apple’s new Apple TV 4K costs $299 in the U.S. and reaches stores on Friday, November 13. That is later than the October 30 date reported earlier. Apple has confirmed October 30 for the HomePod mini 2 instead.
The headline feature, Siri AI, is not limited to the new box. Apple says Siri AI arrives as a beta on Apple TV 4K models from the 2nd generation onward. That means many existing owners can try it too.

Siri AI on Apple TV 4K
Siri AI is in beta in tvOS 27.2. At launch it works in English in these markets:
- U.S. and Canada
- UK and India
- Australia and New Zealand
- Singapore and South Africa
There is a prerequisite that sits outside the TV. Apple says the owner of the home in the Home app needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad on the latest software. Siri AI must also be turned on there and set to a supported language.
Apple’s pitch centres on search and hands-free voice. Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, put it this way:
With Siri AI, finding something to watch becomes a full-screen, conversational experience, and with built-in far-field microphones, it’s completely hands-free.
Microphones, Chip and a Findable Remote
The new box has three far-field microphones. Apple says Hey Siri recognition works even while audio is playing, though far-field support varies by region and language.
Inside is Apple’s A19 chip. Apple claims up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation. There is also a new dedicated AV1 decoder.
The Siri Remote keeps its design but gains Find My with Precision Finding. Its play-a-sound locator works only with this newest remote. Precision Finding needs an iPhone Duo or iPhone Air. An iPhone 17 or later also works, except the iPhone 17e.
Home Hub, Surround Sound and Subscriptions
Apple TV 4K also works as a home hub, with camera activity descriptions and summarized notifications. The AI-generated camera video descriptions need an eligible iCloud+ plan. Apple also notes that a subscription may be required for some content.
For home theater, the box supports four-speaker surround sound. That setup needs HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers in matching front and rear pairs.
Apple says Secure Exclaves, Private Cloud Compute and end-to-end encrypted HomeKit Secure Video protect user data. These are Apple’s claims. If you still run the original model, see what the 2017 Apple TV 4K’s vintage status means for repairs.
