Samsung has started rolling out the October 2026 security patch to the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The report comes from SamMobile. It is the first update the series has received since it moved to stable One UI 9.0 on Android 17, and the rollout is beginning in the United States and Canada.

What is in the Galaxy S26 October update
This is a security-only patch. There is no new One UI version, no new features, and nothing in the interface to relearn.
SamMobile reports that the update fixes 62 security issues. We could not reconcile that count with Samsung’s own October 2026 mobile security bulletin. The bulletin groups its fixes differently, and it does not name the Galaxy S26 series specifically. So the 62 figure belongs to SamMobile’s reporting rather than to a Samsung statement about these three phones.
On the factory-unlocked US Galaxy S26 Ultra, the new build is S948U1UES4BZIG and the download is 531.24MB. That firmware string and size apply to that model and market only. Carrier variants, the Galaxy S26 and the S26+ will each get their own build numbers and sizes.
When will it reach other countries?
No official country-by-country schedule has surfaced. SamMobile expects the rollout to widen over the following days, which is how Samsung normally stages a monthly patch. Security updates typically start with unlocked units in a couple of markets, before carrier-locked devices and other regions follow.
If you own one of these phones, the practical takeaway is short. There is nothing new to learn and nothing to weigh up here. A monthly security patch is worth installing whenever it reaches you.
How to check for the update
Open Settings > Software update > Check for updates on your Galaxy S26. If the phone reports that you are up to date, the patch has not reached your region or carrier variant yet. Staged rollouts take days, so checking again later is the only reliable option.
Owners of Samsung’s current foldables are on the same cycle this month, with the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 also receiving the October patch. For the wider picture on which Samsung phones are running One UI 9 so far, see our One UI 9 rollout coverage.
