One UI 9, Samsung’s Android 17 release, has started reaching Galaxy devices in the United States. Droid-Life reports that the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are all receiving it. This is the US stage of the same rollout that began in South Korea, which we covered in late September. It is not a separate update.

Devices receiving One UI 9 in the US
Five models are in this wave, each with its own firmware build. The build number is the reliable way to tell whether what landed on your phone is this release.
- Galaxy S25: S931USQUCDZIF
- Galaxy S25+: S936USQUCDZIF
- Galaxy S25 Ultra: S938USQUCDZIF
- Galaxy Z Fold 7: F966USQUCCZIH
- Galaxy Z Flip 7: F766USQUCCZIH
One note on scope. Droid-Life describes this wave as going to unlocked US units, and that framing comes from the source rather than from us. If your phone is carrier-locked, check for the update anyway. Do not assume its absence means something is wrong with your device.
Where this fits in the rollout
Samsung pushed One UI 9 to these same devices in South Korea first, on builds carrying the NKSU regional code. The US builds listed above use USQU instead. Same software release, different regional firmware, different approval queue.
That distinction explains a common confusion. If you read that this update had arrived and then found nothing waiting on your US phone, the Korean wave is why.
What’s new in this build
The headline addition is My FanCam. You pick a person in a video you are recording, and the feature tracks them automatically. It keeps that person centred in frame as they move around.
The update also brings changes to Now Brief, a new feature called Call Brief, and revisions to Creative Studio. Treat that as the headline list rather than a complete changelog, since no detailed breakdown of Call Brief has surfaced yet.
What to expect if you are waiting
Staged rollouts mean the update may not appear immediately, even on an eligible device. Checking again a few hours later is usually all that helps.
A sourcing caveat is worth stating plainly. This specific US wave is reported by one outlet so far, and we have not seen a second independent confirmation. The build numbers above can be checked against Samsung’s own firmware listings as the rollout widens.
