Galaxy S26 One UI 9 Beta Gains Z Series Features, Still No Stable Date

The Galaxy S26 series is where the One UI 9 beta started, and it is still the flagship line waiting on the finished version. Samsung’s most recent announcement about it was not a rollout date. On 28 August the company said it was pushing a feature update to S26 beta testers, adding tools that shipped first on its 2026 foldables. As of 2 September, Samsung has published no stable One UI 9 rollout date for the S26 on Samsung Mobile Press, its press site for exactly this kind of announcement.

What the Galaxy S26 One UI 9 beta feature update adds

Samsung’s own announcement lists three additions, all of them already familiar from the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8.

  • My FanCam — uses AI to keep a chosen person in focus while filming, then reframes the footage into different aspect ratios for social platforms.
  • Now Brief — pulls information and recommendations into customisable cards built around your routine, and surfaces security and privacy insights flagging potential risks.
  • Now Nudge — sharpened to give more contextual suggestions during everyday tasks.

Samsung describes the set as features “each designed to make everyday tasks feel more seamless.” That is the company’s framing rather than a description of behaviour, and Now Brief in particular is worth reading carefully: a card feed built around your routine is also a feature that needs to know your routine. Testers already enrolled in the S26 beta got a notification to download the update from 28 August. Nobody new can join: recruitment for the programme closed in late August.

Where the stable One UI 9 rollout actually stands

One UI 9 is not a future release. The stable build has been shipping since late July on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, which is where we first covered its finished features. The S26 line, Samsung’s newest slab flagships, has been on beta builds that whole time.

Samsung has also just widened the beta rather than closing it. On 1 September it opened One UI 9 beta enrolment to the Galaxy S25 series, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. Both things can be true at once, but the pattern in Samsung’s own published material is a programme still expanding, not one being wrapped up.

What Samsung has and has not said about the date

There is a reported signal that a stable release is close, and it is worth being precise about where it comes from. On 1 September SamMobile reported that Samsung, posting on its Community forum, said the stable One UI 9.0 release for the S26 series is coming soon. SamMobile’s own reading is that Samsung typically posts that kind of notice only when a rollout is a few days out.

We could not verify that at source. Samsung’s Community boards return a Cloudflare challenge rather than the thread to anyone reading them the way we do, and no Samsung-owned page we could reach carries the statement. So treat it as a report of what a forum post said, not as a Samsung announcement, and note that no version of it includes a date.

The practical advice has not changed since beta 6 landed in late August. If you are enrolled, check Settings > Software update > Download and install manually, because staged rollouts often arrive faster that way. If you are not, waiting for stable is now the only route in. And any “One UI 9 rollout schedule” circulating with dates attached is still inference, because Samsung has not published one.
