One UI 9 Beta 6 Reaches Galaxy S26 in India as Recruitment Closes

Samsung has pushed a sixth One UI 9 beta to the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra, and it is one of three signals this week that the stable Android 17 build for the S26 line is close. One UI 9 itself is not new — it shipped stable on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 last month — but Samsung’s previous flagship generation is still waiting. The 851MB build is live in India, Germany, Poland, the UK and South Korea, with the US expected to follow within days.

What is in One UI 9 beta 6 for the Galaxy S26

This is a maintenance build, not a feature drop. Samsung’s changelog, published in the Samsung Members app and reported by SamMobile from the India rollout, lists four fixes:

  • Now Brief widget: a display error corrected.
  • Home screen: a display error corrected.
  • Camera widget: a display error that occurred in specific paths.
  • Expert RAW 24MP: an issue where images were saved differently at specific focal lengths.

The build also carries the 5 August 2026 security patch — the same patch level as beta 5, which is worth noting: Samsung is not folding a newer monthly patch into this one.

There is a firmware-version discrepancy across the outlets covering it. GSMArena and Android Authority both report the build as ending in ZZHE, with Android Authority saying it received the update on its own Galaxy S26 Ultra in the UK. SamMobile lists the India build as S94xBXXU4ZZHC. Both may be correct if regional builds differ; check what actually lands on your device rather than assuming a single global string.

The one genuinely new setting: an AI Select off switch

The changelog does not mention it, but Android Authority reports that beta 6 adds a Touch and hold for AI select toggle under Settings > Display > Edge panels. Holding the Edge Panel handle a fraction too long while swiping has been triggering AI Select and freezing the screen; the new toggle disables the long-press gesture while leaving AI Select reachable from the Edge Panel’s own shortcut icons. That is a small fix with an outsized quality-of-life effect, and it is the kind of thing that should be a setting rather than something you learn to work around.

Three signs the Galaxy S26’s stable One UI 9 rollout is near

Beta 6 on its own says little. Alongside two other developments this week, it says more:

  • Beta recruitment has closed. SamMobile reports a notice in the Galaxy S26 One UI 9.0 beta section of the Samsung Members app, sourced from Samsung Community, saying recruitment has ended while the programme itself continues. Existing testers keep testing; nobody new gets in. That is the standard shape of a beta being wound down.
  • The beta is reaching beyond the S26. One UI 9.0 beta firmware for the Galaxy A54 has been spotted on Samsung’s servers as version A546SKSUJZZH3, per tipster Tarun Vats via SamMobile — a sign Samsung is preparing to widen testing rather than extend it on the flagships.
  • The beta has run since May. Six builds across roughly three months is a long programme by Samsung’s standards, and the gap between beta 5 and beta 6 was about two weeks.

What none of this gives you is a date. As of 27 August no stable One UI 9 rollout calendar or complete device eligibility list from Samsung has surfaced, and until one does, every circulating “which phones get One UI 9” roster is inference from Samsung’s published update policy rather than a Samsung list. We said the same when beta 5 was confirmed, and the position has not changed.

How to get One UI 9 beta 6

If you are already enrolled, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install and check manually — the OTA rolls out in waves and the manual check usually pulls it forward. If you are not enrolled, you can no longer join: recruitment is closed, so the realistic option is to wait for the stable build.

One caution worth repeating for anyone tempted to sideload a beta from elsewhere: beta firmware on a daily-driver phone means accepting bugs Samsung has already documented in a changelog, and leaving the beta usually requires a factory reset.
