Oppo K15 Launches in China With an 8,000mAh Battery and a Cooling Fan

Oppo has launched the Oppo K15 in China, bringing the physical cooling fan and the huge battery that used to be reserved for its gaming-leaning Pro models down to a CNY 2,299 mid-ranger. The phone went on sale on 24 July in a single 12GB/256GB configuration, and pairs an 8,000mAh battery with a built-in active cooling fan and an IP69 rating — an unusual combination at this price.

The fan itself is not new to Oppo — the K13 Turbo pair introduced it last year and the K15 Pro and K15 Pro+ carried it in April. What is new is the price it now appears at. It spins up automatically under sustained load, which in practice means long gaming sessions, fast charging or use in hot weather, and it is the reason a phone this cheap can claim IP69 dust and water resistance without giving up airflow.

Oppo K15 pricing and availability

The Oppo K15 is priced at CNY 2,299 (roughly $340) for the only variant Oppo is selling, 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. It comes in Speed White and Gale Grey and is already listed on Oppo’s own K-series store page in China.

This is a China-only launch for now. Oppo has not announced pricing, timing or even the name the phone would carry in India, Southeast Asia or Europe, and K-series models often either stay in China or resurface elsewhere under a different name, so treat any converted price you see as arithmetic rather than a forecast.

Oppo K15 specifications

The chipset is the headline compromise. The Dimensity 7360 Super is a competent 4nm upper-mid part, but it is paired here with LPDDR4X memory rather than LPDDR5, which is the kind of saving that shows up in real use long before the RAM figure on the box does. The camera setup is honest for the money: two usable rear sensors, no token depth or macro filler. Full specifications:

  • Display: 6.59-inch 1.5K LTPS AMOLED (2760 x 1256), 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,200 nits peak brightness
  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Super, 4nm
  • Memory and storage: 12GB LPDDR4X RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1, single variant
  • Rear cameras: 50MP main with OIS (f/1.8), 50MP ultra-wide (f/2.2)
  • Front camera: 50MP (f/2.0)
  • Battery and charging: 8,000mAh, 80W wired fast charging
  • Cooling: Built-in active cooling fan with automatic start-stop, plus vapour chamber
  • Durability: IP69 rated
  • Software: ColorOS 16, based on Android 16
  • Connectivity: 5G SA/NSA, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, infrared blaster
  • Other: In-display optical fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, RGB rear light
  • Dimensions and weight: 158.3 x 75.13 x 8.27mm, 205g

The software caveat worth noting

The K15 ships on ColorOS 16 and Android 16 at a point when Android 17 is already rolling out and Oppo’s own ColorOS 17 is far enough along that OnePlus is moving its phones onto it. Oppo has not said how many OS upgrades the K15 will get, and our own read is that K-series buyers have generally had to assume less than Reno or Find owners. If you are buying an 8,000mAh phone expecting to keep it for four or five years, that gap between hardware longevity and software support is the number to ask about — and the one Oppo has not put on the spec sheet.
