The Samsung Galaxy M42 5G has been made official in India. And as expected, it is a rebranded version of the Galaxy A42 5G that was announced last October in the UK.
The Galaxy M42 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G octa-core processor, with 6GB/8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. It has a microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB of additional memory.
The device runs on One UI 3.1 based on Android 11, and features a 6.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display. The Infinity-U water-drop notch is home to a 20MP selfie lens that has an f/2.2 aperture.
The Samsung Galaxy A42 5G boats a quad camera set up on the back, which comprises a 48MP Samsung GM2 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra wide-angle lens that has an f/2.2 aperture, a 5MP macro camera with an f/2.4 aperture, an 5MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and an LED Flash.
The device is equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner, and is backed by a 5,000 mAh battery which charges over a USB Type-C port and supports 15W Fast Charging.

The Samsung Galaxy M42 5G price in India starts at Rs. 21,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant, while the 8GB/128GB version costs Rs. 23,999. The device will be available in 2 colourways: Prism Dot Black and Prism Dot Gray. The first sale of the phone will be held at 12PM on May 1st at Amazon and Samsung.com.
Samsung is offering a temporary discount of Rs. 2,000 for both versions of the phone. This introductory price is valid until the end of May.
