Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in China, about 2 months ago. And now the prices of the phones have been slashed.

Redmi K20 Pro price drop in ChinaThe Redmi K20 Pro price cut is significantly larger than the K20. The K20 Pro 6GB/128GB variant which was launched for RMB 2599 (about Rs. 26,000), will cost RMB 2299 (Rs. 23,000). The 8GB/128GB variant which was sold for RMB 2799 (approx Rs. 28,000), will be available for RMB 2499 (approx Rs. 25,000).

The 6GB/128GB variant of the Redmi K20 which previously retailed for RMB 2099 (about Rs. 21,000) will be available for RMB 1999 (about Rs. 20,000).

Fans react to the Redmi K20 Pro price cut

As expected, early buyers aren’t happy about the Redmi K20 Pro price cut. Many users took to Weibo and commented their frustration regarding what they term an unfair decision by the company.

They make a good point, a RMB 300 price cut isn’t exactly what you want to see a couple of months after buying a device. That’s about Rs. 3,000 which isn’t a small thing for most buyers.

We noticed something similar on TMall a few days ago, but didn’t write about it because it didn’t seem like an official discount. But now Xiaomi has announced it officially on Weibo, and the new prices will go into effect from August 1st, in China.

We aren’t sure if we will see a Redmi K20 price cut in India, but after the backlash the company has received for its high pricing, we wouldn’t be surprised if the phone’s price drops.
