Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Note Prime in India.

Redmi Note Prime Amazon India

The phone sports a 5.5 inch HD 720P Display and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI 7. (Are we still in 2013?).

The Note Prime is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, with 2GB RAM and an Adreno 306 GPU. The device has 16GB of internal storage and supports up to 32GB of expandable memory via microSD.

The Redmi Note Prime features a 13 Megapixel Rear Camera with an ƒ/2.2 aperture, LED Flash, and a 5 megapixel front camera.

Connectivity wise, the device supports GSM, WCDMA,4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, AGPS. The supported 4G Bands are:

  • FDD-LTEB1 / B3
  • TDD-LTEB40 / B41: 2555-2655MHz

The phone supports 4G LTE on both SIM cards (Dual SIM Dual Standby). The Note Prime is backed by a 3100mAh battery. Sensors on the device include a Gyroscope, Light sensor, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor and Electronic compass.

Xiaomi is banned from selling phones with MediaTek SoCs in India, which is why it couldn’t bring the Redmi Note 2 Prime, and opted to launch the now outdated Redmi Note Prime in India. But users aren’t in the slightest happy at all, and took to Twitter to criticize the launch. Don’t get us wrong, the device isn’t bad per se, it’s just that we would have liked to see something better than what the Redmi 2 Prime already offers (in terms of the SoC/RAM).

It appears that the Redmi Note Prime will be sold through normal sales, i.e without flash sales. The Redmi Note Prime has been priced at Rs 8499, and will be available from 10 AM, December 15, exclusively on Amazon India. This happens to be the first exclusive Xiaomi launch on Amazon India. The device is manufactured in the Country, as part of the Make in India program.
