(Click on the image for the full resolution version)

We’re going to break it down to a less complicated version, so you can check whether and when your HTC device will get the beloved update you want.

The roadmap includes plans for the following devices:

  • HTC One A9
  • HTC One M9
  • HTC One M9+/ME/Supreme
  • HTC One M8
  • HTC One E8
  • HTC One M8s
  • HTC One M7
  • Butterfly 3
  • Butterfly 2
  • Desire EYE
  • Desire 826
  • Desire 820
  • Desire 816
  • Desire 626
  • Desire 526

HTC Devices which will get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update:

The HTC One A9 and One M8 already have the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update with Sense 7.0 UI. The HTC One M9 will get the same later this month, while the M9+/ME/Supreme will get it in Q1 2016. The HTC One E8, One M8s, Desire 816 and Desire 526 will be updated to  Marshmallow in the 2nd Quarter of 2016.

HTC Devices which will get the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update:

The HTC One A9 will be the first device from the Chinese OEM to Android 6.0.1 with Sense 7.0 in early Q1 2016, while the same will roll out to the One M9 and Butterfly 3 sometime later in Q1 2016.  The Butterfly 2, Desire 826, Desire 626 will be updated to Android 6.0.1 in the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Update Under Evaluation:

The HTC desire EYE is the only device in the list, whose Marshmallow future remains uncertain. The M9+/Me/Supreme, Desire 816 and Desire 526 may or may not get the Android 6.0.1 Update.

HTC One M7 reaches its End of life:

It appears the 2013 flagship device will not be updated beyond Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It is the only device in the list which will not be updated to Android 6.0 or 6.0.1 Marshmallow. This also applies to the M7 Google Play Edition.

The update roadmap applies to the Dual SIM varants of the devices as well, but there may be a difference of upto 3 months, when such models will get the update.
