While the number of leaked images of Nokia’s upcoming Android phone increase, we may now have a concrete launch date for the device.

Nokia Normandy

The Nokia Normandy may make its debut as the Nokia Asha 1045.EVleaks had tweeted some images of the phone on January 8th, and the date and time set on the leaked images may be a clue to the launch date.

Nokia Normandy 2The time on the screenshots are 10:45 and the date displayed is March 25th.

This is based on NokiaPoweruser’s guess that previous devices followed the same pattern, of being named after the time displayed on the screen, and the date displayed in the leaked images.

Although we do not understand why they say it will be called the Nokia Asha, since the Asha series already exists, and consists of low end phones. I am pretty sure Nokia will not use the Lumia brand name as they use it for their Windows Phones.

The above image displays details about the previous leaks. The Lumia 720 displaying the time as 7:20 and the date as 25th February. It was launched on the same date last year. The same applies to the other devices.

The Nokia Normandy may be the company’s first Android device, but it may not launch with the Google Play Store  or any of Google’s services. Nokia are rumored to add their own apps and services instead.

And the latest image to be leaked, (the first image in this post) suggests that the phone will be available in multiple colors.

Rumored Specifications

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor
  • 4-inch display
  • 5 MP Camera
  • Screen resolution of 854 x 480
  • Custom and tweaked version of Android

The Mobile World Congress 2014 is scheduled for 24-27 February, in Barcelona, Spain. It is possible that we may see Nokia’s debutant Android device there.
