The Stock Google Keyboard with Gesture Typing is now available at the Play Store

Google have pulled a surprise by launching their Official Keyboard on the Play Store.

Google Keyboard

The Keyboard will work on all 4.0 Devices.

The specialty of the Keyboard is the Gesture Input, similar to Swype’s. Though in this case it is called Gliding, you just need to lift your finger to glide the next word. It also comes with Voice Typing,  and next word prediction. Nexus device users will be familiar with this keyboard as it is the same keyboard from the Stock ROMs.

Thanks to Google’s decision to add the awesome Keyboard on the Play Store, we can now install it on any device running Android 4.0+.

But the Keyboard seems to have some Geographical restrictions as many users complained it is not available in their Countries. Even I encountered the issue, it said it is not available for my phone, but I was able to update it on my Nexus 7.

Possible way to install the Keyboard:

I visited the Play Store on my PC and clicked on the install button, it offered to send it to my Samsung Mobile which I did. The screenshot below should serve as  proof that I installed it directly from the Play Store.

This Keyboard should provide competition to paid keyboards which use gesture input such as SwiftKey, SlideIt and the ever popular Swype.
