Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 with camera under display, Snapdragon 888+ launched in China

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is here. The Chinese OEM announced the flagship phone in its home soil, and the highlight of the Mi Mix 4 is the 20MP selfie camera, which is placed under the screen. Xiaomi calls this design the CUP, or camera under panel.

The lens sits under a 6.67-inches AMOLED Full HD+ curved screen. The display has minimal bezels, supports 120Hz refresh rate, 400 PPI pixel density,  5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, HDR10+, 480Hz Touch Sampling Rate, 10-bit, 800 nits brightness, Dolby Vision. The screen on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and is home to an In-display fingerprint scanner.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 weighs 225g, and measures 162.65 x 75.35 x 8.02mm.

The phone runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12.5, and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G processor, assisted by an Adreno 660 for the graphics. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 has  8GB/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, with 128GB/256GB/512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The under-display camera looks impressive, but the main camera set up on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 seems more powerful. There are triple cameras on the device’s rear, and these consist of a 108MP primary HMX sensor, with an f/1.95 aperture, and support for optical image stabilization. It is accompanied by an 8 megapixels periscope telephoto lens, that supports 50x digital zoom, 5x optical zoom, and a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens, with an FoV of 120°, an f/2.2 aperture, and an LED Flash.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 packs a large 4500mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging, over USB Type-C. It is capable of USB Power Delivery 3.0, and supports Quick Charge 4/3+, 50W Wireless Charging, 10W Wireless Reverse Charging.

The device has several sensors including an Ultrasonic distance sensor, Ambient light sensor, Acceleration sensor, Gyroscope, Electronic compass, Hall sensor, X-axis linear motor, Infrared remote control, Barometer, Back light (color temperature) sensor, Flicker sensor, Laser focus sensor.

Does the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 have a headphone jack?

No, the Mi Mix 4 does not have a 3.5mm audio jack. You will need to use the USB Type-C port for listening to music, or use the Type-C to 3.5mm adapter provided in the box to connect your wired headphones.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 price

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 price in China starts at RMB 4,999 for the 8GB/128GB version, the 8GB/256GB variant costs RMB 5,299. The 12GB/256GB model carries a price tag of RMB 5,799, while the top end variant with 12GB/512GB will cost RMB 6,299.

The device is up for pre-order, and can be purchased from August 16th. It comes in 3 colours: Ceramic Black, Ceramic White, and Shadow Green Gray.
