The Redmi 6 Pro MIUI 10 Update has been released. The phone was originally launched with MIUI 9.5, which was based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

So, you would expect that the Redmi 6 Pro MIUI 10 Update is based on Android 9 Pie? Is it? No, it isn’t.

The Redmi 6 Pro MIUI 10 Update is still based on Android Oreo 8.1. It is not a beta version though, but a stable one, which is something positive to take away from this. And Xiaomi has indeed included the November Android Security Patch in the new update.

The version number of the Redmi 6 Pro MIUI 10 Update is V10.0.1.0.ODMMIFH, and is about 1.53GB to download. The update brings a new UI for the device, and includes a natural sound system with ambient sounds of the beach, forest, rain, etc. It also features a revamped design for the Clock and Notes apps.

The update is rolling out over the air, so you should be getting a notification to download and install the update. You can also check for the new firmware manually by navigation to the Settings app and selecting About Phone > System Updates > Check For Updates.

Alternatively,  you can download the Redmi 6 Pro MIUI 10 Update in 2 other ways; a Recovery ROM and a Fastboot ROM. Links for these can be found in the announcement post on the Xiaomi India community forums.

If your Redmi 6 Pro has a locked bootloader, you should download the recovery ROM. Then, you can use the Updater app to navigate to the ROM file’s location and update it directly from the OS.

If you unlocked the bootloader on the Redmi 6 Pro, you should go for the Fastboot ROM and flash it manually.

And while we are on the topic of updates, Xiaomi recently announced the Poco F1 Android Pie Update Open Beta, which you can download right away.
