Xiaomi has announced an affordable phone called the Redmi 12 globally. The 4G smartphone shares a lot of similarities with the Redmi 10 that was launched 2 years ago.
The Redmi 12 sports a 6.79-inches Full HD+ LCD with a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels. The screen supports 90Hz Refresh Rate, 1500: 1 Contrast Ratio, has a pixel density of 396 PPI, 550 nits brightness, and 70% NTSC colour gamut. The Redmi 12 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G88 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, with an ARM Mali G52 GPU, and runs on Android 13 with MIUI 14. The phone has 4 GB / 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, 128 GB / 256 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage and supports up to 1 TB of additional memory via a microSD card slot.
The triple camera array on the Redmi 12 consists of a 50 megapixels primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8 MP ultra-wide angle sensor with a 120° FOV, an f/2.2 lens, a 2 MP macro sensor with an f/2.4 lens and an LED Flash. The selfie camera on the front is an 8 MP snapper with an f/2.1 aperture. The Redmi 12’s rear and front cameras support 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second.
Xiaomi has packed a 5,000 mAh battery in the Redmi 12, it supports 18W Fast Charging via a USB type-C port. Connectivity options on the Redmi 12 include support for 4G LTE, WiFi 2.4GHz/5GHz, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo, QZSS, and NFC. It has an Accelerometer, an E-compass, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone measures 168.60 x 76.28 x 8.17 mm, and weighs 198.5g. The device is rated IP53 for Splash, Water and Dust Resistance. It will be available in 3 colours: Midnight Black, Sky Blue and Polar Silver.

Redmi 12 price
The Redmi 12 has been priced at $149 for the 4 GB / 128 GB version. The 8 GB + 128 GB model of the device is available in Thailand for THB 5,299. The device will be priced at €199 in Europe.
