Amazon has introduced a new subscription called Amazon Prime Lite in India. The plan is cheaper than the regular subscription, but should you get it?
What are the differences between Amazon Prime and Prime Lite?
Amazon Prime and Prime Lite price in India
The regular Amazon Prime subscription costs Rs. 1499 per year, while the Prime Lite plan price in India is Rs. 999 per year.
Prime Delivery
You can get One-Day Delivery, Two-Day Delivery, Scheduled Delivery, Same-Day Delivery, and No-Rush Shipping to eligible addresses with Amazon Prime. The plan also supports Morning Delivery at Rs. 50 per item.
Amazon Prime Lite supports free Two-Day Delivery, Standard Delivery, free No-Rush Shipping to eligible addresses and Morning Delivery at Rs. 175 per item. Both plans give you a cashback of Rs. 25.
Prime Video
Amazon Prime members can view unlimited ad-free videos on up to 3 devices at a time. This includes latest movies, Live Sports and TV shows. In comparison, Amazon Prime Lite members have access to the same content, but the video service is ad-supported. Also, you can only watch the content on 2 screens simultaneously.
Services that are not available in Amazon Prime Lite
Amazon Prime Music, Amazon Prime Gaming, Prime Reading (on Kindle e-reader and Kindle apps) and Amazon Family offers are exclusive to the Amazon Prime subscription, i.e. Prime Lite users cannot access these services. Prime Advantage options such as No Cost EMI for smartphone purchases, and 6 months Free Screen Replacement by Acko are also only available in the regular plan.
All Amazon Prime members can earn 5% cashback for purchases made with an Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card.
Should you get Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime Reading is great for reading e-books for free. The company also gives some free game keys every month for Windows PC (Amazon Gaming App, GOG, Epic Games). Amazon Prime Music has a nice collection of audio that you can listen to without ads. And of course, the regular Prime subscription gives you faster delivery options. If none of these options are important to you, then you can get the cheaper plan and save Rs. 500.
