Realme 8 August Update

Realme has released the Realme 8 August Update. And the new firmware version brings an important feature to the popular mid-range device, Dynamic RAM expansion.

The Dynamic RAM expansion uses the device’s storage to increase the amount of memory, i.e., Virtual RAM. To use the new feature, go to the Settings > About Phone, and Tap on the RAM information. Toggle the RAM expansion button, and use the slider to set the amount of RAM that you want to allot.

The firmware has the version number RMX3085_11.A.19. The Realme 8 update includes the July 2021 Android security patch.

What issues does the Realme 8 August Update fix?

The update improves the stability of the system, and optimizes the performance. The change log for the update indicates that a bug related to the File Manager’s scroll bar disappearing, has been fixed. The Photos app will no longer flicker when you rotate the device with the screen locked. Third-party apps can now edit images correctly.

The release notes posted on the Realme Community forums say that the August Update is being rolled out in batches, and will be available to all users soon. The  company says that the Realme 8 August Update will be available for download manually at the official Software Update over the coming days.

The Realme 8 was announced in March this year, the phone has a 6.4-inches Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor with an Adreno 618 GPU, 6GB/8GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The device is backed by a 4500 mAh battery that supports 50W SuperDart Fast Charging over a USB Type-C port. The selfie lens on the Realme 8 is a 16MP f/2.45 lens. The main camera array on the device’s rear comprises a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor with an f/1.88 aperture, an 8MP Ultra-wide angle lens, with an 119° FOV,  an f/2.25 aperture, a 2MP Macro lens with 4cm focus, and a 2MP B & W lens, both with an f/2.4 aperture, and an LED Flash.
