Are OnePlus Invites Coming Back with OnePlus 5?

As you know, OnePlus 5 is scheduled to be officially launched on June 20, followed by the local launch in India on June 22. OnePlus 5 will go on sale on the same day as of launch i.e. on June 22 exclusively on Amazon India. At the moment, we have no clue of the pricing of OnePlus 5 and need to wait till the official launch for that.

Today, Oneplus announced that OnePlus Fans can also attend the launch event in India by buying tickets priced at Rs. 999. The sale of tickets starts on June 12. We noticed something interesting in those ticket details.

Your invite to the biggest event of the year! Tickets go LIVE on 12th June. 5ave the date! https://t.co/ilO8M05UYH #OnePlus5 pic.twitter.com/kHd0zxWWGR

Everyone attending the launch event after buying the ticket is entitled to receive a “Launch Invite Box” which contains some goodies, Tshirt etc. But the most interesting thing which is included in the box reads:

Invite holders will receive a OnePlus 5 invite code at the launch event.

If we are interpreting it correctly, it means that you need an Invite to buy OnePlus 5 and OnePlus is planning to bring back the invite system which was there in initial years of OnePlus devices and most of us hated it. OnePlus got rid of Invite system for all its smartphones last year and consumers may not like it if the company brings it back.

OnePlus 5 Invite

To be honest, we are not sure if OnePlus is indeed planning to bring the invite system back. We would better wait for official launch instead of speculating. Stay tuned at Androidpure and we will keep you updated.

OnePlus 5 is rumoured to feature a dual edge display, but smaller than the existing OnePlus 3T and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal storage. In terms of camera, it is expected to come with a 23 MP rear-facing camera and another 16 MP front shooter for selfies. Rumours about the battery indicate a 3300 mAh battery with improved dash charging.

Thank you Ashwin for pointing it out.
