OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro with Snapdragon 865 and 5G launched globally

We’ve seen them in quite a few leaks, but they’re here for real, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro have been launched globally.

Oneplus 8 Pro Colours

The OnePlus 8 Pro is equipped with a 6.78-inch edge-to-edge Fluid AMOLED QHD+ display (3168×1440 pixels) that has a 120Hz refresh rate, in a 19.8:9 aspect ratio. It has an embedded In-display fingerprint sensor for biometrics. A punch-hole camera is placed in the top left corner for the 16MP lens. It has a Sony IMX471 sensor with an f/2.4 aperture, fixed focus and electronic image stabilization. The selfie camera is just 3.8mm in diameter.

Oneplus 8 Pro

The OnePlus 8 Pro runs on Oxygen OS based on Android 10, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with a 5G modem, and 8GB/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The phone has 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

Oneplus 8 Pro Display

The OnePlus 8 Pro has been IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. The device has a curved glass back, which is home to quad cameras.

The lens setup comprises a 48MP Sony IMX689 main sensor with an f/1.78 aperture, 1.12 µm pixel size, that supports optical image stabilization and electronic image stabilization, assisted by a 48MP ultra wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture, 120° field of view, an 8MP telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture, that supports 30x optical hybrid zoom, optical image stabilization and a 5MP colour filter, with an f/2.4 aperture that supports Phase detection autofocus, Laser autofocus, Contrast autofocus and Dual LED flash.

Oneplus 8 Pro Cameras

The device is backed by a 4,510 mAh battery which supports 30W Warp Charge 30T fast charging over a USB Type-C 3.1 port, that can charge the phone to 60% in 30 minutes. The phone also supports Warp 30 reverse wireless charging.

OnePlus 8

The OnePlus 8 is quite different compared to the Pro model. The company calls it a compact phone because of its 72.9mm size. But the device sports a 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED Full HD+ display (2400 x 1080 pixels) with a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 20: 9 aspect ratio. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The phone’s processor, OS, selfie lens, and storage specs are the same as the Pro version. But the OnePlus 8 has 8/12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM (as opposed to the LPDDR5 on the Pro). The regular model has slightly lower-end cameras with a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary lens with an f/1.75 aperture that supports OIS and EIS, a16 MP ultra wide- angle lens, with an f/2.2 aperture, 116° field of view and a 2MP macro lens,with an f/2.4 aperture.

The OnePlus 8 is backed by a 4,300 mAh battery and supports 30W Warp Charge 30T fast charging over a USB Type-C 3.1 port. It does not support Wireless fast charging.

OnePlus 8 price

The OnePlus 8 price starts at $699 for the 8GB/128GB variant, while the 12GB/256GB model has a price tag of $799.  The OnePlus 8 Pro price starts at  $899 for the 8GB/128GB version, and a whopping $999 for the 12GB/256GB variant.
