Galaxy S23, Fold5 and Flip5 Get Stable One UI 9, Starting in Korea

Samsung’s stable One UI 9 update has started reaching five of its 2023 Galaxy phones, but only in South Korea for now. The phones are the Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra, plus the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5. The update is based on Android 17. SamMobile, GSMArena and 9to5Google all report that it is starting in South Korea, with beta-enrolled phones first.

If you own one of these phones outside South Korea, there is no stable build for your market in any report we checked. That covers the US, Europe and India.

One UI 9 on the Galaxy S23: Korea first, beta users first

For the Galaxy S23 trio, beta-enrolled phones in Korea are getting build GZIF as a small package under 500MB, according to GSMArena. SamMobile, whose reports appear to have started the coverage, lists the download at 483.81MB. It gives the firmware version as S91xNKSU8GZIF.

Phones that never joined the beta get a larger package. GSMArena puts it at around 3GB. No other outlet we checked has confirmed that figure, so treat it as an estimate.

GSMArena’s reporting summed up where things stand:

The One UI 9 stable update for the Galaxy S23 trio is rolling out in South Korea for beta users, but it should expand to non-beta users in South Korea and other regions soon.

— GSMArena

That expansion is GSMArena’s expectation, not a date from Samsung. If you followed the One UI 9 beta on the Galaxy S23, this is the stable version of that software.

Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5

GSMArena reports that both 2023 foldables are also receiving stable One UI 9 in South Korea. SamMobile, crediting tipster Tarun Vats, lists the Fold5 package at 485.41MB. It gives the Fold5 firmware as F946NKSU6HZIJ.

The Flip5 is less clear. We found no firmware version or download size for it in any report. Its place on the list rests on rollout reports from GSMArena, SamMobile and 9to5Google, not on a firmware sighting.

Some newer Galaxy models are further along. One UI 9 recently reached Verizon’s Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip6 and S24 FE in the US.

When will other countries get it?

Nobody outside Samsung can say for certain. SamMobile expects wider availability within the next few days. 9to5Google notes that Samsung usually expands to other regions within a day or two. Both are outlet expectations, not Samsung commitments.

As of publication, we found no Samsung newsroom item naming these phones. Samsung has not given a date for any market in the sources we checked.

Owners in South Korea who haven’t received it yet can check manually under Settings > Software update, per GSMArena. Everyone else should wait for a confirmed release in their country. Joining the beta now is not a reported way to get the stable build sooner.

Reportedly the last major Android update for these phones

This release matters more than a usual version bump. Our August report said One UI 9 would be the Galaxy S23 series’ final major update. That claim came from a tipster’s account of an alleged conversation with Samsung support.

The same report listed the Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 among 19 devices whose last major upgrade is Android 17. That list came from a NokiaMob roundup, not from a Samsung announcement.

If those reports hold, these phones won’t get another major Android version after this. Samsung’s newest phones are already ahead, with the One UI 9 rollout having started on the Galaxy S26 in September.
