The update weighs about 458MB to download, from MIUI 10.2.3.0 NCFMIXM. That being said, our Redmi Note 4 downloaded and installed the update in less than 20 mins.
What’s new in the MIUI 11 update for Redmi Note 4
The version number of the update is 22.214.171.124. You’ll be greeted by a welcome screen which introduces the new features of MIUI 11 including the new interface design, Doc Viewer, sounds of nature, to name a few.
While it is good to see Xiaomi supporting a 3 year old device, there are areas which could have been improved. The Android version remains on Android 7.0 Nougat even though the phone is more than capable of running more recent versions. And the security patch is still outdated, i.e., December 2018 Android Security Patch.
MIUI 11 on the Redmi Note 4 feels fast and fluid. The experience is quite similar to what we used on the Redmi K20, sans the always-on display exclusive features. We also noticed that the mobile network was a bit stronger after the update, though that could have been a placebo.
We had to manually check for the update from the Settings app to get the MIUI 11 update for Redmi Note 4. So, you can try that on your phone, if you haven’t already received the notification for the same.
