Back in June, we reported that Google Play Gift Cards are available in India.
It was launched only in a few cities, and was only available at select offline stores.
Now it appears that Google is partnering with Snapdeal, to sell the gift cards at the inline retailer’s store. The above image is a screenshot of the Googple Play Store advertising the Gift Cards.
Here is the Google Play Gift Card page on Snapdeal, where there are three denominations available: Rs. 750, Rs. 1000, and Rs. 1500.
The cards are not online codes, but physical copies which will be shipped to the buyer.
We tried to buy the cards from Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru, and it wasn’t available for any location/pin code. So we are guessing it isn’t officially launched yet.
Update: It works now, we placed an order for a couple of cards successfully.
More Update: As per Google press release, Google Play Gift Cards are now available in India in the stores of Spice Hotspot, Vijay Sales, Planet M, Planet Mobile and Sangeetha Mobiles.
