Google Pixel 6a launched in India, but its price is 22% higher than in the US

The Google Pixel 6a has been launched in India. It is the first phone with the Google Tensor processor to be available in the Country.

The Pixel 6a has a Titan M2 security chip, 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, runs on Android 12 out of the box, and will receive 5 years of Security Updates.

The phone sports a 6.1 inches AMOLED Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 Pixels, a 60Hz Refresh Rate, a pixel density of 429 PPI, 20:9 Aspect Ratio and supports HDR, 24-bit, Always-On Display, 1,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio. The panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3,  and is home to an in-display fingerprint reader, and an 8MP f/2.0 selfie lens that supports 1080p video recording at 30fps.

The Google Pixel 6a has dual cameras consisting of a 12.2 megapixels primary lens that has an f/1.7 aperture, a 12MP Ultra wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture, and an LED Flash. The cameras support 4k video recording at 30fps, and PDAF. Google has packed a 4,410mAh battery in the Pixel 6a, it supports 18W USB PD Fast-charging via a USB Type-C port.   While it does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack, the mobile has Stereo Speakers and 2 Microphones.

The Google Pixel 6a supports 5G and 4G LTE mobile networks, Wi-Fi 6 and 6E 802.11ax with MIMO, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS, BEIDOU location services. The smartphone has a Proximity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyrometer, Magnetometer, and a Barometer.

The Google Pixel 6a has been rated IP 67 for dust and water-resistance. It has a 3D thermoformed Composite back, a Tactile alloy frame, and weighs 178g.  The phone measures 71.8 x 152.2 x 8.9 mm.

Google Pixel 6a price in India

The Google Pixel 6a price in India is Rs. 43,999. That is 22% higher than its price tag in the US, ($449 = approx Rs. 36,000 without taxes). The difference in the price is likely due to import duties levied in India. The phone is available for pre-order from Flipkart. Buyers can avail an instant discount of Rs. 4,000 by making their purchase using an Axis Bank Credit Card or Debit Card. The company is also offering an exchange bonus of up to Rs. 6,000 for select models.
