Galaxy S27 AMOLED Panels Enter Mass Production, Report Says

Samsung Display has begun mass-producing the AMOLED panels for the Galaxy S27 family this month, according to a report from ZDNet Korea. The report puts the annual shipment target at 47-48 million panels. That would be up from roughly 40 million for the Galaxy S26 generation. Those volumes are attributed to industry sources rather than Samsung, so treat them as an estimate and not company guidance.

The panels are being readied for assembly in early 2027. Both ZDNet Korea and GSMArena read that timing as the likely Galaxy S27 launch window, rather than anything arriving in 2026.

What the Galaxy S27 display report says about the lineup

The report carries a four-model lineup with these panel sizes:

  • Galaxy S27 — 6.27-inch
  • Galaxy S27+ — 6.66-inch
  • Galaxy S27 Pro — 6.47-inch
  • Galaxy S27 Ultra — 6.89-inch

That lineup is still rumored rather than confirmed. The Galaxy S27 Pro in particular remains unconfirmed, as we noted alongside this week’s Exynos 2700 production report. The S27 Pro and S27 Ultra are both said to use a Privacy Display panel. That is also a carried-over rumor, not a new confirmation.

Panel volumes specific to the S27 Pro are put at 2-3 million units this year, scaling to 4-5 million during 2027. Those figures carry the same industry-source caveat as the headline target.

A four-model answer to Apple, and a plan to reuse S26 parts

ZDNet Korea frames the move to four models as Samsung’s response to Apple. Apple is reportedly adding further iPhone 18 models in the first half of 2027.

The same report says Samsung Electronics plans to reuse some Galaxy S26 components in the S27 to hold costs down. It adds that this could squeeze component suppliers’ margins even as shipment volumes rise.

That last detail is the one worth filing away. A wider lineup and a bigger panel order are easy things to present as a bigger generation. Reusing S26 parts would mean some of what buyers pay a 2027 flagship price for is already a year old. As of October 3, Samsung has not announced the Galaxy S27 series or confirmed any of this.
