Exynos 2700 Reportedly in Production, S27 Ultra Chip Still Undecided

Samsung has reportedly started mass-producing the Exynos 2700, its next flagship mobile chip, without having decided where it will go. According to SamMobile, the company is still split internally over whether the Galaxy S27 Ultra should use it. Samsung has issued no statement on any of this, so treat the whole story as a leak rather than a plan.

Two Samsung divisions, two positions

The interesting part of the report is not the silicon. It is the disagreement. Samsung’s chip-design arm, System LSI, reportedly wants the Exynos 2700 used exclusively in the Ultra model. The mobile division, MX, has not committed to that. MX is said to be weighing performance, cooling and cost before signing off.

That tension is worth understanding because it shapes what buyers eventually get. System LSI benefits from its chip landing in the halo phone. MX has to answer for how that phone performs and what it costs to build.

If the Exynos 2700 does end up in the S27 Ultra, it would reverse what Samsung did this generation. The Galaxy S26 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 worldwide, with no Exynos variant in any market.

What’s claimed about the chip

  • Process: built on Samsung Foundry’s 2nm SF2P node
  • Multi-core (unverified): reportedly 9.5% ahead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 on Geekbench 6
  • Single-core (unverified): reportedly behind the same Snapdragon
  • Output: production volume said to be more than 10% above the Exynos 2600

Those benchmark figures deserve a flag. They are described as internal numbers in a single report, not results anyone outside Samsung has run. Internal benchmarks are also typically produced on reference hardware with better cooling than a phone can offer. A multi-core lead on a bench says little about sustained performance in a retail handset.

The output figure is similarly thin as a signal. Making more chips than last generation is a manufacturing detail. It does not tell you which phone those chips are destined for.

The fourth model claim

The same report also suggests Samsung is weighing a fourth Galaxy S27 variant, a “Pro” model. That claim rests on the same single source, and no separate corroboration for it has surfaced. Read it as an unconfirmed possibility, not a roadmap.

How solid is any of this

The core claim is that production has begun and the decision is unresolved. GSMArena has picked that up, as have outlets in the US and China. That gives it more weight than a lone tip. The benchmark numbers and the fourth-model talk remain single-sourced.

For readers, the useful takeaway is restraint. Nothing here tells you which chip your next Galaxy flagship will carry. A report of an internal argument is evidence that no outcome is locked in yet, which is the opposite of a confirmed spec.
