Galaxy M47 5G launched in India: 6 Years of Updates, Price and Specs

Samsung’s Galaxy M47 5G is now on sale in India, with the first sale having kicked off on July 4 alongside Amazon’s Prime Day event. The phone was announced on June 29 as the successor to the Galaxy M36, and its headline act is not the hardware — it is the software promise. Samsung is committing to six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the M47 5G, a policy the company previously reserved for its Galaxy S and Z flagships. A phone that ships with Android 16 and is promised updates through Android 22 is a first for the budget-focused M series.

Galaxy M47 5G: Pricing and Availability in India

The Galaxy M47 5G comes in three configurations:

  • 6GB + 128GB: ₹25,999
  • 8GB + 128GB: ₹28,999
  • 8GB + 256GB: ₹33,999

Launch offers — a bank discount plus a coupon — bring the effective starting price down to ₹22,999. The phone is sold through Amazon India and Samsung’s online store in two colours, Rogue Red and Blaze Blue.

One note for buyers comparing on specs alone: at the full ₹25,999 MRP, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is a modest chip for the segment — rivals at this price offer noticeably faster silicon. What you are paying for here is the AMOLED panel, the OIS camera and, above all, an update policy no other brand matches at this price; if raw performance is your priority, this is not the value pick.

Galaxy M47 5G: Specifications

The M47 5G is built around a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus+ on top. Qualcomm’s 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 runs the show — a switch from the Exynos chips of earlier M-series phones — paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, both faster memory standards than typical for this class.

The 50MP main camera gets optical image stabilisation, which remains uncommon around ₹25,000, and the 6,000mAh battery charges at up to 45W. The body carries an IP64 rating and weighs 200 grams at 7.8mm thick.

  • Display: 6.7-inch Super AMOLED, Full HD+, 120Hz, 1,400 nits HBM, Gorilla Glass Victus+
  • Processor: Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4nm) with Adreno 710 GPU
  • RAM and storage: 6GB/8GB LPDDR5X, 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1, microSD support
  • Rear cameras: 50MP primary with OIS + 8MP ultra-wide + 2MP macro
  • Front camera: 12MP with autofocus
  • Battery: 6,000mAh, 45W wired charging
  • Software: Android 16 with One UI 8.5; 6 OS upgrades + 6 years of security updates
  • Build: IP64 rating, 7.8mm, 200g; side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC

Software support has quietly become the real dividing line in the mid-range — the Nothing Phone (1) just received its final update after three years — so a six-year commitment at this price is worth more than another camera megapixel bump. If Samsung holds to the promise, the M47 5G will still be receiving new Android versions in 2032.
