Samsung’s MX division recently ran its own in-house benchmark of the unreleased Exynos 2700 against Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and the numbers that leaked out of it flatter Samsung’s chip in every category tested. That framing matters more than any single figure below: this is a company grading its own silicon against a competitor’s part, on hardware nobody outside Samsung can check, in a test nobody outside Samsung designed.

What Samsung’s internal Exynos 2700 benchmark reportedly showed
The account comes from Korean business daily Seoul Economic Daily, which attributes it to industry sources rather than to Samsung on the record. Its figures:
- CPU: 19% higher Geekbench 6.5 multi-core score than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and 9.5% higher than the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro
- GPU: 5% higher peak performance than the Qualcomm Pro part; at a capped 2.5W, 24% ahead of the standard chip and 22% ahead of the Pro
- AI: running Llama 3.1 8B, response generation 18% faster than the Qualcomm Pro chip, prompt handling 5% faster
- Power: 161mA against the Qualcomm Pro chip’s 185mA in a simulated real-use measurement, about 12.7% lower
The Exynos 2700 is expected to launch next year on Samsung Foundry’s second-generation 2nm SF2P process. Its predecessor, the Exynos 2600, ships in some Galaxy S26 models and the Galaxy Z Flip8. Samsung is also reportedly porting S26-generation camera features back to older Galaxy flagships in One UI 9.
One clarification on numbers circulating in English coverage: the 9.5% figure belongs to the comparison against the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, not the standard Gen 6, which is the 19% line. Some relays have attached it to the wrong chip.
Samsung will not confirm it
A Samsung Electronics official told Seoul Economic Daily: “내부 테스트의 구체적인 결과에 대해서는 확인해 줄 수 없다” — that the company cannot confirm the specific results of internal tests.
That non-answer is the most solid thing in the story. Everything else rests on unnamed sources describing a self-run evaluation, and vendor-run benchmarks of unreleased silicon are among the least reliable performance claims in the industry — they are typically run on engineering samples, at clocks and thermal limits that may never survive a retail phone, and against a competitor part the vendor does not tune for. Treat all four bullet points above as Samsung’s internal position leaking outward, not as measured fact.
Why Samsung wants this chip to be good
The commercial motive is not subtle, and Seoul Economic Daily lays it out. Samsung spent KRW 13.83 trillion buying application processors last year, up 26.5% from KRW 10.93 trillion the year before, and another KRW 7.44 trillion in the first half of this year — 17.9% of the entire raw-material purchasing bill for its Device eXperience division. Every Galaxy that ships with an Exynos instead of a Snapdragon takes a bite out of that line.
For buyers, the consequence is the familiar one. If these results hold up, a wider Exynos rollout starting with the Galaxy S27 series is good news, because the Exynos-versus-Snapdragon lottery has historically been a reason to check which regional variant you are buying. If they do not hold up, Samsung still has a strong incentive to fit more Exynos chips anyway — and the saving lands on Samsung’s margin, not on your receipt. Independent testing of retail hardware is the only thing that will settle it, and that is a year away.
