ChatGPT can now connect to iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar. Once linked, it can search and read your iCloud email, check your schedule and update calendar events. OpenAI says the plugins are available on all ChatGPT plans on the web, desktop and iOS. Before you connect them, check the setting that decides whether OpenAI may use that data for training.

What the ChatGPT iCloud plugins can do
Mail and Calendar are separate plugins, and both include read-only contact lookup. OpenAI’s launch note lists finding emails, catching up on your inbox, checking your schedule and updating events. MacRumors reports the Mail plugin can also manage messages and drafts, and send email. In other words, an AI tool could send mail from your iCloud address.
MacRumors says ChatGPT only sees iCloud Mail, not Gmail or Outlook accounts added to the iOS Mail app. It adds that the plugins can feed Dots, OpenAI’s always-on agent launched last month. Standalone Contacts and Reminders plugins aren’t part of this launch. OpenAI says the rollout is global, so some accounts may not see the option yet.
This follows ChatGPT’s earlier Mac plugin for iMessage, SMS and RCS threads.
How to set it up
Both plugins sign in with an Apple app-specific password, not your main Apple Account password. For Mail, enter your @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com address. For Calendar, enter your primary Apple Account email, which may be a different address. You can revoke an app-specific password from your Apple Account if you change your mind.
The training catch on consumer plans
OpenAI’s help article on connected apps spells out which plans are affected:
For ChatGPT Free, Plus, Go, and Pro users: OpenAI may use information accessed from apps to train our models if your “Improve the model for everyone” setting is on.
For Business, Enterprise and Edu customers, OpenAI says it doesn’t train on app data by default. Individual plans depend on that one setting instead, so it’s worth checking before you connect an inbox. With Memory on, ChatGPT may also remember relevant details it reads from a connected app. An inbox often holds receipts, medical notes and work threads, so the exposure is real.
Keep permissions on ask-first
OpenAI offers four permission levels: Always ask, Allow read actions, Allow low-risk actions and Allow all actions. OpenAI itself flags the last option as higher risk, because actions may run without a second confirmation. For an account that can send email, Always ask is the safer choice. If you stop using the plugins, disconnect them in ChatGPT to remove their access.
