1. Visit this page, read and agree to the disclaimer to test Nothing OS 1.5

2. On the next step, the web page reminds you to take a backup of your data. Do so, and proceed.

3. The third page in the form will require you to provide your IMEI number. Open the dialer app on your Nothing Phone 1, and press *#06# to find your IMEI number.

4. Follow the instructions on the web page to download and install the Android 13 Update for Nothing Phone 1.

Carl Pei, the founder of Nothing Tech, recently revealed that Nothing OS 1.5 was built from scratch by the company’s engineers. The previous software on the phone had been coded by developers from another OEM.

Nothing OS 1.5 is based on Android 13, and ships with various improvements. The company says that apps will load up to 50% faster on the new firmware. More colour schemes based on Material You are available in the OS.

Multilingual users can select different languages for different apps, i.e., it is not based on the system’s language settings. Privacy features in Nothing OS 1.5 includes a photo picker that restricts image access to apps, a notification permission system that lets you control which apps can display notifications, and media permissions for grouping the type of media you want to share (pictures, videos, music, files, etc.)

A QR Code scanner is available in the Quick Settings Panel. Other improvements in the OS include a new Media Control UI, redesgned quick settings, new game mode, live caption, a self-repair feature that deletes unused cache and old system dumps, and more.

Nothing OS 1.5 will be released in early 2023 for all users. The company is also bringing the Nothing Phone 1 to the U.S market for the first time.
