Google released Android 17 QPR3 Beta 3 for Pixel phones on October 29. The update brings back app lock and adds a camera tile to Quick Settings. It also puts a screenshot shortcut in the power menu and fixes 26 listed bugs.
Two of those fixes stand out. One stops a foldable’s inner screen from staying black when you unfold it. Another fixes failed logins on WPA-Enterprise (PEAP) Wi-Fi networks.

What’s new in Beta 3
These changes come from 9to5Google’s and Android Central’s hands-on time with the new build.
App lock is back
App lock returns in Beta 3, according to Android Central. It’s the headline change for anyone who relied on the feature.
Camera tile in Quick Settings
Both outlets spotted a new camera tile among the Quick Settings toggles in this build.
Screenshot button in the power menu
The power menu now has a screenshot shortcut. It captures the full screen, including the status bar and navigation bar.
Lock screen blur and bubbles
The blur effect on the lock screen partly returns. Android Central also found you can now launch bubbles from the Recents screen.
Bug fixes
Google’s changelog, as published by 9to5Google, lists 26 fixes. These are the ones most owners are likely to notice:
- Inner display stays black when unfolding a foldable
- Display randomly turns off and on
- Poor video quality when using the phone as a webcam
- Force stop fails to stop apps
- WPA-Enterprise (PEAP) Wi-Fi connections fail
- Intermittent crashes on the lock screen or after startup
- X (Twitter) app crashes on thread mentions
- Bluetooth LE scanning crash
Which Pixel phones can install it
Beta 3 is available to these Pixels if they’re enrolled in the Android Beta program, per 9to5Google:
- Pixel 11 series: Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, 11 Pro Fold
- Pixel 10 series: Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold, 10a
- Pixel 9 series: Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a
- Pixel 8 series: Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a
- Pixel 7 series: Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a
- Pixel 6 series: Pixel 6a only
- Other: Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro aren’t eligible, because Google dropped them from the QPR3 beta.
When to expect the stable release
Android Authority and Android Central expect QPR2 to reach stable phones around the end of 2026. They expect QPR3 to follow in 2027. Those are the outlets’ expectations, not dates from Google.
If you’re already in the beta, Beta 3 should arrive as an over-the-air update. If you’re thinking of joining, back up your phone first, since beta builds can still carry serious bugs.
