Apple has released iOS 27.2 for every iPhone that runs iOS 27, which means the iPhone 11 and later plus the iPhone Duo. The biggest changes are to Siri AI. It can now recall past conversations, and a new Excluded Apps setting limits which apps it can access.

To install the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update. Most iPhones skipped iOS 27.1, which shipped only for the iPhone Duo.
Siri AI also adds five languages with this release:
- French
- Japanese
- Korean
- Portuguese
- Spanish
Apple says Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese will follow by the end of the year.
Which iPhones get iOS 27.2 and Siri AI
- iOS 27.2: iPhone 11 and later, plus iPhone Duo
- Siri AI (beta): iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models and later
- Other iOS 27 iPhones: get iOS 27.2, but not Siri AI
- Siri AI not offered: in the EU or mainland China, or to users under 13
- iPhones still on iOS 26: iOS 26.7.2, a security-only update
On the EU gap, Apple added a short note to its announcement:
Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU in iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS. Apple is working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward.
What changes in Siri AI with iOS 27.2
The headline addition is memory. Siri AI can now recall your earlier conversations with it.
It also reads more of your personal data than before. The new sources include:
- Photos attached in Messages
- Calendar event attendees
- Voicemails
- Safari history and Reading List
That is where Excluded Apps comes in. It is a single setting that controls which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access. If you don’t want the assistant reaching into a particular app, add it to that list.
Keep your expectations in check, too. Siri AI is still labelled beta. Apple says features that rely on its server-side models, Siri AI included, are subject to daily usage limits. It also says expanded access to those features will be available for a fee in the future. In plain terms, Apple plans to charge for heavier use of its AI features.
The rest of iOS 27.2, in brief
These come from Apple’s release notes, as published by MacRumors and 9to5Mac.
- Messages: suggestions can take actions based on the conversation, such as adding a Calendar invite.
- Shared Albums: edit captions and comments, avoid duplicate photos, and get reminders before albums expire.
- Photos and Image Playground: SynthID watermark support to help identify AI-generated or AI-modified images.
- Podcasts: the Home tab splits into New Episodes and Continue Playing.
- Games: the Friends tab explains why friends are being suggested.
- Apple TV app: Simple Profiles give each household member their own recommendations.
- FaceTime: add a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner to a call.
- Apple Music: a new icon and branding, per MacRumors.
- EU only: an alternative, expanded App Tracking Transparency prompt, per MacRumors.
- iPhone Duo: Apple Pencil support, limited to Apple Pencil (USB-C), as we reported at the release candidate stage.
The new Health app is not part of 27.2, as we noted when the iOS 27.2 release candidate arrived.
watchOS 27.2, HomePod and Apple’s other updates
watchOS 27.2 brings Siri AI changes to the Apple Watch, according to Apple’s release notes as relayed by MacRumors. Siri AI on the watch can recall past conversations and draw on more personal context. Apple also says it responds faster. Excluded Apps is managed from the iPhone.
The same five new languages apply on the watch, with the same EU and mainland China exclusions. Install it through the Watch app or Settings. The watch must be on its charger with more than 50% battery.
HomePod 27.2 is out as well, per 9to5Mac. Sound Glow, which lights up the top in sync with music, reaches the HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini. A new Lock Controls option disables the touch controls.
Using a HomePod as a Mac speaker requires a Mac with Wi-Fi 6E or later. Four-speaker surround with the Apple TV 4K (4th generation) is listed as coming soon. That Apple TV arrives November 13. The HomePod mini 2 ships October 30, with Siri AI coming later.
Apple also released iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2. iPhones that remain on iOS 26 get iOS 26.7.2, which contains security fixes only.
