OnePlus has confirmed the OnePlus 16 camera setup itself, through a teaser posted on its own official Weibo account. The headline pairing is a 200MP main sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom. It is the most detailed camera information the company has published ahead of the phone’s expected October launch in China.
The confirmed OnePlus 16 camera specs
- Main camera: 200MP sensor
- Telephoto: 50MP periscope, 3x optical zoom and what OnePlus calls 6x lossless zoom
- Ultra-wide: 50MP with a 116-degree field of view
- Front camera: 50MP with autofocus
The periscope is the more interesting number of the two. A 50MP sensor behind a 3x lens gives the phone room to crop, which is likely how OnePlus arrives at its 6x figure. Treat “lossless” as the company’s own description until the phone can be tested.
OnePlus has not named the sensors behind any of these cameras. Other outlets have guessed at specific parts, but those identifications are third-party speculation rather than company information.
Three new imaging modes
The same teaser introduces three shooting modes by name. Master Mode is pitched as film-inspired, High-Pixel Mode targets maximum detail, and 65:24 Widescreen Mode shoots in an ultra-wide cinematic ratio.
A 200MP sensor normally bins its output down to a smaller image by default. High-Pixel Mode is presumably the switch that unlocks the full resolution, at the usual cost in file size and low-light performance.
What earlier reports have claimed
Plenty of other OnePlus 16 specs have circulated in recent weeks, none of them from today’s camera teaser. Earlier reports have pointed to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The same reports mention a 185Hz display and a 9,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging. ColorOS 17, based on Android 17, and an AnTuTu score above 5.38 million have also been reported.
Today’s teaser covers the cameras only, so treat the rest as prior reporting rather than confirmed specifications.
