Xiaomi has published the rollout plan for the HyperOS 4 beta, and it is a three-wave schedule running from tomorrow into the middle of September. The first batch starts on the afternoon of 14 August with the Xiaomi 17 series, the Redmi K90 pair and two tablets. A second wave follows from 27 August and a third from 17 September. Everything below comes from Xiaomi’s own announcement, relayed by Chinese outlet IT之家 — these are China-market model names on a China-market beta schedule, and Xiaomi has not published global or India timing for HyperOS 4.

Note what is absent. This is a beta enrolment list, not the stable eligibility list, and Xiaomi has not said which phones outside it will eventually get HyperOS 4 at all. If your device is not named here, nothing in this announcement tells you whether you are early or excluded.
The Headline Look Is Gated Behind Your Chipset
HyperOS 4’s visual centrepiece is a new material Xiaomi calls “soft-light glass” (柔光玻璃), paired with new interactive lighting effects. Xiaomi states plainly that these are limited by hardware performance, and lists the requirement: phones and tablets on the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform or newer, phones on the Dimensity 9500 flagship platform or newer, and phones on Xiaomi’s own Xring O1 3nm chip or newer.
Read against the device list, that is a real split. A Redmi K80 landing on HyperOS 4 in the September wave is getting the update without the look that Xiaomi is using to sell it. Xiaomi is at least being upfront about the cutoff rather than quietly shipping a downgraded version, but “you’ll get HyperOS 4” and “you’ll get the HyperOS 4 in the marketing” are two different promises here.
What Else Is In It
Under the surface, Xiaomi has added two technologies to its HyperCore architecture — load calculation and memory preloading — plus a reworked application runtime environment, all aimed at animation smoothness and resource handling. These are the company’s own stated goals, and there is no independent testing of them yet.
The AI layer is Super XiaoAi 2.0, built on Xiaomi’s MiMo large language model, with new task-planning and content-generation abilities and an “expert mode”. Xiaomi says the assistant now extends to Macs and third-party PCs as well as its own devices. The company is also showing a Xiaomi cloud-and-device privacy computing system alongside it, which is worth watching rather than taking at face value: an assistant that spans your phone, tablet and laptop is an assistant with a much wider view of what you do, and the detail on what stays on-device has not been published.
Elsewhere in the release: a redesigned lock screen with one-stop personalisation, a home screen with stackable widgets and resizable folders, a new AI voice notes app, a new Super XiaoAi keyboard, and a “fused device centre” for cross-device handoff. Xiaomi also used the interface showcase to give a first glimpse of an unannounced wide foldable, spotted by Gizmochina in the demo material — no name, no specs, no date.
