Xiaomi 12S Pro with 2K display, 120W charging announced

The Xiaomi 12S Pro has been announced in China alongside the Xiaomi 12S, and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. Here’s everything you need to know about the Pro model.

Xiaomi 12S Pro

The Pro model has the same processor, GPU, memory and storage as the regular 12S, i.e., it is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 octa-core processor with an Adreno 730 GPU, 8GB/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 128GB/256GB/512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The phone runs on Android 12 with MIUI 13.

The main difference between the 12S and the 12S Pro is that the Xiaomi 12S PRo has a 6.73-inches curved AMOLED 2K display. The screen supports a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels, 419 PPI, 120Hz Refresh Rate, 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate, 1500 nits brightness, 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 10bit, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and DCI-P3. The phone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus,, and features an In-display fingerprint reader. The selfie lens is a 32 megapixels f/2.4 sensor.

Xiaomi has packed three 50 megapixels cameras in the 12S Pro. The camera array consists of a 50MP Sony IMX 707 primary sensor that has an f/1.9 lens and supports Optical Image Stabilization, a 50MP 115° ultra-wide-angle lens, with an f/2.2 aperture, a 50MP telephoto lens that supports 2x optical zoom.

The Xiaomi 12S Pro is backed by a 4,600mAh battery that supports 120W wired fast charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging through a USB Type-C port, and 50W wireless fast charging. The smartphone supports Connectivity: 4G LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, Beidou, among other connectivity options. It has a slew of sensors including an Ultrasonic Distance Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Acceleration Sensor, Gyroscope, Electronic Compass, X-axis Linear Motor, Infrared remote control, rear light (color temperature) sensor, Flicker sensor.

The phone sums up to 163.6 x 74.6 x 8.16 mm, and weighs 204g.

Xiaomi 12S Pro price

Xiaomi has priced the 12S Pro starting at RMB 4,699 (approx Rs. 55,000) in China for the 8GB/128GB trim, at RMB 4,999 (about Rs. 59,000) for the 8GB/256GB model. The 12GB/256GB version costs RMB 5,399 (approx Rs. 64,000), while the 12GB/512GB variant carries a price tag of RMB 5,899 (about Rs. 70,000).
