Redmi K50 and K50 Pro with Dimensity 8100 and 9000 announced in China

The Redmi K50 series has been launched in China. Here’s everything you need to know about the two premium phones.

Redmi K50 Pro colours

The K50 is equipped with a 6.67-inches 2K AMOLED screen that has a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels, supports 120Hz Refresh Rate, 480Hz Touch Sampling Rate, 5000000:1 Contrast Ratio, 8-bit, DCI-P3, HDR10+, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The phone is powered by a 2.85GHz octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8100 processor, with a Mali G610 MC6 GPU, 8GB/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Redmi’s new phone runs on MIUI 13. The rear panel is home to a triple camera array that consists of a 48MP Sony IMX 582 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens with a 119° FOV, a 2MP Macro Sensor, and an LED Flash module. The selfie lens on the front is a 20MP Sony IMX 596 sensor. The Redmi K50 packs a 5500mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging through a USB Type-C port, and the company will provide a 67W in-box charger. The phone has stereo speakers, but does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Redmi K50 supports 5G and 4G LTE mobile networks, Wi-Fi 6 dual-band, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU, GALILEO, NaVIC, and QZSS connectivity options. The device has a slew of sensors including an Ultrasonic Distance Sensor, 360° Ambient Light Sensor, Acceleration Sensor, Ambient Color Temperature Sensor, Electronic Compass, Gyroscope, and an Infrared Remote Control. The phone weighs 201g, and measures 163.1 x 76.15 x 8.48mm.

Redmi K50 Pro

The Redmi K50 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 octa-core processor, with a Mali G710 MC10 graphics unit, with up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The triple camera array on the phone replaces the 48MP sensor for a 108MP Samsung S5KHM2 lens that supports Optical Image Stabilization. The K50 Pro packs a 5000mAh battery, that supports 120W Fast Charging over a USB Type-C port, and includes a 120W charger in the box. It also supports one extra 5G band, the rest of the specs are identical to the regular model.

Redmi K50 price

Xiaomi has priced the Redmi K50 starting at RMB 2,399 (approx $378 or Rs. 29,000) in China, for the 8GB/128GB model, the 8GB/256GB trim costs RMB 2,599 (about $409 or Rs. 31,100), and the 12GB/256GB variant at RMB  2,799 (about $441 or Rs. 34,000).

The Redmi K50 Pro price starts at RMB 2,999 (about $472 or Rs. 36,000) for the 8GB/128GB option, the 8GB/256GB version carries a price tag of RMB 3,299 (approx $519 or Rs.40,000), the 12GB/256GB model costs RMB 3,599 (around $567 or Rs. 43,000), while the top end model with 12GB/512GB has been priced at RMB 3,999 (about $630 or Rs. 48,000). The phones will be available from March 22nd, pre-orders are currently live.
